300MAIN, designed for a downtown parcel in Louisville, Kentucky, develops the exterior personality of the office template to present a new model of civic interaction with its surrounding. Normalized in its plan, with the retail base receding from the street, the project organizes a sidewalk environment to create a new region of civic culture within Kentucky. The precast concrete spandrels allow for an alien exterior that effortlessly welcomes attention in distraction. Ribbon windows slip behind the concrete tendrils which diagonally migrate up and down the facade. The project provides a contemporary approach towards office exteriors within a metropolitan environment.
